Album: Let’s Go Together
Track #4 Clemency
He wears an ankle chain his life he’ll spend in pain
His back it breaks the stones inside a prisoners home
I know this man is good, he’s been misunderstood
Hey justice hear my plea, I say set him free
Away my heart goes to him upon the evening breeze
And I know I might lose him
So I prey for clemency
The time he’ll do is long because to kill is wrong
He saved me from disgrace, wish I could take his place
Now life he’ll have to serve because of one mans word
What else was he to do?
I ask wouldn’t you?
Away my heart goes to him upon the evening breeze
And I know I might lose him
So I prey for clemency
The night it comes to soothe him, day just comes too soon
I send my prayers to greet him, and warm his lonely room
My endless nights of weeping as I lay in our bed
Our sorrows just increasing for that jail will be our end
His cell is dark and cold, in there he will grow old
But through the bars he sees the moon light up the trees
His sorrow fills my soul my heart a beggars bowl
His fate I can’t believe, I say set him free
Away my heart goes to him upon the evening breeze
And I know I might lose him
So I prey for clemency
